How can you tell the difference between Girling and ATE brake system?
Let's figure it out together.
On some parts, it is usually written on the part itself, but it can be different on the same year model of the vehicle.
There is usually a G on the caliper from Girling, but that can by difficult to see it on old or used calipers.
However, it is easy to distinguish between Girling's and ATE's brake systems.
A easy way is to look at how the brake pads are mounted.
Girling: padsare fixed with two pins that are held in place by a R-shaped locking pins
Between the pins, a spring holds each pad in place. The casting of the brake caliper is rather oblong.
ATE: padsare fixed by two pins that are tapped into the brake caliper.
A springy cross-shaped piece of steel holds the pads between the pins.
The casting of the brake caliper is reather round.
Good luck!
