Bilstein B4 standard shock absorber refers to the fact that it is an OEM replacement product so standard in this case has nothing to do with SAAB's designation of standard or sports chassis. Bilstein's upgrade shock absorbers are B6 and B8. The B4 shock absorber is a gas shock absorber that actually corresponds to SAAB's sports shock absorbers. It also works as a replacement for shock absorbers for Saab standard chassis as these are no longer manufactured. The difference in function in SAAB's standard and sports shock absorbers is marginal where the sports shock absorber is somewhat "better" than the standard shock absorber in function and can therefore effectively replace the standard shock absorbers from SAAB.
