READ BEFORE INSTALLING!
When installing new brake discs and / or brake pads, it is very important to following actions take place!
The new brakes shall be run in gently, without hard breaking the first 500 kms.
* Always make sure you got the right parts before removing any of the car.
* Compare discs for: outside diameter, thickness, number of bolts, offset and bolt circle.
* Compare brake pads for shape and thickness.
* Compare the order, number shown on the parts of what the packing slip or invoice.
* Brake disc wear surface must be thoroughly cleaned after installation and must then be completely clean.
* When mounting the brake disc against the hub, contact surface must be completely clean, no traces of brake dust, rust or heavy coats may be.
If you see or feel that there are irregularities, they must absolutely be sanded off the assembly! This is to ensure a flat contact with the hub.
* Also check pad contact surfaces of the caliper, so that they are clean and the location can move easily with enough space.
* Sometimes built rust and brake dust up to an astonishing thickness, this should then be scraped down to bare metal.
* You should also bevel the edges of the new lining slightly, so adjust it more easily to the brake disc shape.
* On a car with single piston calipers you must also check that the calipers slide easily on its guides. If not, this must be corrected before the car is used with the new components. This you should also check each year, then this is one of the most common problems with these types of brakes.
* In no event shall practices such as driving in low gear under heavy braking, used to run in the brakes. This harms only the parts permanently with inferior function as a result.
* Some cars that Saab 9000 and 900 (1979-87) and others have small brakes that are not designed to run a bit sporty, or with very heavy loads or trailer.
* If after some time discover that it did not help entirely by switching to the above items, but you get vibration in the brakes, you should first try to let the turning / grinding brake discs in place with special equipment that many garages have.
* This is not a warrantable, but only due to car factories in many cases using too small, undersized brakes in proportion to the speed are the cars have, or the load they can take. When you know you have long been driving slowly in the city with only light braking, you can try with some heavy braking from a bit faster. This can sometimes remove any vibrations caused by the brakes may not work properly.
* If you see that your brakes start to discolor and become brown or even blue, is this sign of very high temperatures, up to 600 °C. This means that you put your brakes work very hard, and you should consider other actions, to improve brake cooling, or to switch to a complete brake kits.
* Brake discs that have been stained in the brake surface may also be indicative of brakes that do not go away completely. This is very damaging to the brake discs and pads.
* Brake discs that have been stained and beaten down due to congestion are not under warranty. It’s a hint that you must improve your brakes more!
* You should clean the hub and rim contact area against each other, because the rim acts as a heat sink for the brake unless it tight to the hub.
We also want to give you some tips on how you should treat your brakes to get the best performance and durability from them. The worst case load that you can give your brakes, are long with hard braking load, without allowing the brakes to cool off. It is better, if possible, slow down for a short while and then give the brakes to cool.
Remember that there are very large effects to be converted into heat, and then cooled off by the relatively small space available!
