Background

The idea behind project 9-3 TTX emerged as we felt that this car model was missing in SAABs sales catalogue. We are also fully convinced that SAAB would have built a twin turbo with XWD if they still were around.

Said and done, we started the project during December 2016 with a MY 2006 9-3 AERO 2,8T with 2900 miles (18019 American Miles) on the meter.

The cars body were widened with 100mm per side to give it a more aggressive look as well as making more room for broader rims. The car were rebuilt with a 2012 griffin front which got a Hirsh grill and Ice block headlights. A larger rear wing were mounted on the car. A XWD driveline with ELSD diff were mounted as well. Finally, the engine got a solid review and was equipped with two TD04-15T turbochargers and a longer crankshaft to reach 3.2L cylinder capacity.

When the time for painting arrived the colors, as well as the design, were chosen with care. The choice for colors fell on Amber Orange (325) along with a retro inspired “hockey club” that originated from SAAB 99. The hockey club was painted in Jet Black (298) and highlighted by silver pinstripes. Along with the hockey club, the roof, luggage and center of the hood were also painted in Jet Black. We strongly believe that if SAAB had built a similar car, you would have been able to make use of this retro inspired feature.

And so the 9-3 TTX was born and premiered for the first time in SPEEDPARTS booth on Elmia during the Easter weekend 2017.
